But first let’s bring you, the viewer, up to date on a couple of recent events which we meant to blog about sooner.
Firstly - the London Eurovision Party which was held at the Shadow Lounge on Sunday 17 April. Despite being a schoolnight, there was a lively atmosphere and a brilliant night - aided to by the glamorous new light-up floor that the Lounge boasts (which we assume they acquired from Reflex when it shut down). Live performances from Israel; Malta (Glen is very enthusiastic, as befits his name - and he hero-worshipped Dame Nikki of French, as of course he should); Bulgaria; Switzerland; Romania; and Italy . The last 4 of these were all songs which, prior to the night, we hadn't really cared for that much but, with the exception of Italy - which remains dull in any setting - they were good to hear live and definitely went up a few notches in our internal ranking...
Highlight, of course, was Dame Nikki performing Don't Play That Song Again (twice). When is that not ever a highlight?
Then, on the following Maundy Thursday, the late-night theatrical-camp-Euro-fest that is West End Eurovision. Now, this being an 11.30pm start, it was quite nice for this to fall on a non-schoolnight for once (thanks to Jesus for that one). It did mean, however, that your EUROtravellers were more well-watered than usual and much of the night is lost in something of a white wine blur. I recall lots of colours, amazing dancing, and Sheridan Smith getting as drunk as the rest of us from the judging booth.
Then - last night - the 2011 edition of the EUROfiasco Flag-Waving Preview Party, the traditional UK-based event in the years when EUROfiasco goes Live. The first encounter was a modest affair in 2007, where the flag-waving began thanks to the bombastic energy of Malta's Vertigo - one of the top 10 songs which we unveiled at that event.
This year's event followed the pattern of 2010 - a picnic in the park followed by settling down to see and hear the best of Eurovision 2011. And the worst too, as this year we featured all 43 songs in some form.
In due course we will upload the preview videos in full (i.e. when we're back from Dusseldorf as we've got a plane to catch and lots to do). But, for the record, here's our Top 10-plus-2 - excluding the UK natch as you can't vote for your own country as per. We watched all the videos, in order of performance, in one evening, and put 10 songs through from each semi. We then chose our top 10 independently and combined scores to get the list below. All independently checked and verified etc...

A great night had by all - including the Brewers after, where EUROfiasco had a shout-out and we danced to Blue and Eric Saade.
