Eurovision Party (for everybody)

We had a brilliant time last night at the 2014 London Eurovision Party, which after 4 years successful service at a crowded-but-intimate Shadow Lounge has moved to the new setting of Cafe de Paris - not a bad venue, apart from the ridiculously low stage which meant that nobody beyond the upper levels and the very front could see anything until a box was found to stand everyone on.

Lots of great performances - too many to mention - and certainly others will be able to do more justice to it than my shoddy camerawork. So here are just two clips and they're both parochially patriotic. First up - Power to the People, one and all - it's Molly:



She sounded great, and also performed some stuff from her new album.

Also great? ROOOOTH LORENZO (who did a pretty impressive performance of Nessum Dorma as well as, of course, Purple Rain), Conchita Wurst (who we also saw on Friday night at the RVT), Linda Martin (who got an even bigger cheer for saying "Gobshite" than she did for her fab renditions of Terminal 3 and Why Me), Scott Fitzgerald (not heard that song in a while!), Carl Epsen... and many more. Suzy (who also did an impressive version of Where Are You Now with a slightly deranged fan). Anyway... we won't list them all, as it really was a packed line-up.

Oh, one more -  Greece - who as well as performing their (very good) entry Rise Up, also did a pretty impressive Eurovision medley. The performance on the night itself isn't on YouTube, but this version performed, er, on the street outside Cafe de Paris (with accompanying Swiss clock bells for maximum chaos) gives you a slightly shoddy idea of the much better performance inside.



(Drink had been taken by the time they came on, though, but I am pretty sure it was amazing).

And it wouldn't be a Eurovision Party without a star turn to wrap things up from Dame Nicki French. What a star.



We danced til much later than we should do on a Sunday, it's true, but it was all worth it!
