Come Together to Shine a Light

The BBC announced today that they will be showing both their own programme - Eurovision Come Together - as well as the live ‘official’ EBU show called Europe Shine A Light - on 16 May.

Which is marvellous, if unexpected news! It means that there’ll be solid Eurovision on prime time BBC1 from 6.30-10pm (as well as a bunch of other bits and bobs across TV and Radio that week), for a start. And also means that we won’t be missing out on the official show, which it had been rumoured was going to be relegated to iPlayer - partly because the BBC went early with announcing their own show.

Yesterday it was confirmed that Come Together would be at 6.30, which led to raised hopes that we’d get Shine A Light, because the schedule had a TBA at 8... but we were still convinced that there’d be a rogue Mrs Browns Boys going in there just for trolling purposes.

May still means #Eurovision! With programmes across TV, Radio and a special night of @Eurovision on May 16th.

The Flag-Waving will be taking place that day, and will be the prefect prep for everyone ahead of the Eurovision extravaganza that evening. It’ll be online of course, which will be interesting, but we have a bunch of ideas up our sleeve to make it work and ensure that the nautghty Coronavirus doesn’t get in the way of us celebrating Eurovision in some form in 2020. And of course there’s a Top 10 to reveal!
